Hi, I'm Claudia Vela—an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer with a passion for both traditional and digital media. While I enjoy working across various materials, I have a special fondness for graphite and watercolor illustration. I began my creative journey studying studio arts at the University of Central Oklahoma, where I spent my early years. Later, I expanded my skills in multimedia design at San Francisco City College and Berkeley City College. Having lived most of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area, I now call sunny San Diego home. I'm currently completing my graphic design degree at MiraCosta College and expect to graduate this semester.
From an early age, I have been deeply motivated by the desire to transform abstract ideas into tangible visual forms. I actively cultivate a spirit of imagination and maintain an openness to creative possibilities. Guided by a long-term vision of breathing new life into my traditional illustrations through digital media, I am continually inspired by the potential of digital illustration. My practice is rooted in a passion for experimentation—particularly with color, texture, and elements of animation. As I continue to refine my skills and explore new techniques, I am eager to collaborate with clients to help bring their visions to life with clarity and creativity.
I primarily work with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and I also have experience with Adobe Animate, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. My background in traditional media includes graphite, watercolor, oil and acrylic paint, as well as sculptural materials like polymer clay, paper clay, and wire—along with just about anything else I can get my hands on.
I value clarity, trust, and respect in all creative relationships. Interested in collaborating? I'd love to connect and hear more about your project! Reach out through the form below! :)
