Pop Culture Icon and Artist Mash up Diorama

For this project, I was tasked with creating a fusion of the pop culture icon Snoopy and the artist Yayoi Kusama. I designed a diorama depicting Joe Cool’s (one of Snoopy’s many personas) college bedroom, inspired by Kusama's Obliteration Room. My concept involved covering the walls and ceiling with black-and-white Snoopy comics, which created a striking visual contrast when Kusama’s signature dots were applied throughout the space. I hand-crafted the furniture using wooden pieces, cardboard, glue and paint. I added small details like books, a stuffed bear, and beverage containers to capture the essence of a college bedroom. I believe Kusama was an excellent match for Lucy van Pelt’s character.
